IN COSTA RICA
UNIVERSITY PROGRAMS IN COSTA RICA
Costa Rica is one of the best places in the world to study abroad! You can live and study amidst the country’s unparalleled natural beauty, including rainforests, beaches, volcanoes, and mountains. With a well established education system and an emphasis on peace and environmentalism, Costa Rica offers a certain level of both academic seriousness and tranquility and safety. It is an especially good destination for students who are studying Business, Education, Environmental Studies, Hospitality & Tourism, among many others.
Our campus is located in the university district of San Pedro, just 2 blocks from the University of Costa Rica. The campus offers both indoor and outdoor study areas, WiFi, onsite snack bar, and other amenities. The neighborhood offers a great student vibe and is surrounded by restaurants, gyms, shopping, and nightlife. From the institute, it is only a short 10-minute bus ride to downtown San Jose.
Our campus in Manuel Antonio is an open-air building that sits at the top of a small mountain overlooking the clean, blue waters of the Pacific. Students study surrounded by the rainforests and white sand beaches that only Costa Rica can offer! After class, you can escape to the beach, which is just minutes away via bus or on foot. Lockers are available at the institute for personal items.

Why I Maximo Nivel
I studied at Maximo Nivel in Costa Rica for 5 months and it was the best choice I have ever made! I worked alongside nurses and doctors in a retirement home and learned so much! As a nursing student, I felt the medical project really helped me become eager to learn more about healthcare in poverty countries. The staff was beyond helpful and so compassionate, they always made sure I felt at home and never had any questions! Even my host family felt like real family by the end of my trip. I highly recommend Maximo Nivel, they are an outstanding organization.

All courses are led by certified native Spanish-speaking teachers. Through a structured curriculum that emphasizes speaking, you naturally acquire the language as you are pushed to learn through practice.
Costa Rica is known for having progressive environmental and social policies, and Costa Rica is widely considered one of the planet’s most sustainable countries. It is also a safe country—so peaceful a nation, the government disbanded the Army way back in 1948.
At the same time, Costa Rica is still a developing country with a low national income and a number of socio-economic issues. This means Costa Rica offers a wide variety of ways to get involved in service learning projects. There is a lot to do in a country like Costa Rica and international students are needed and welcomed!
